Types of Wedding Receptions

Morning – this are nice to follow a morning wedding at 9 or 10 o’clock. This may also served buffet style where the guest can be seated at specified tables. If planning to choose a buffet style, there will be an assortment of fresh fruit, croissants, rolls and quiches with some variety of cold cuts and cheese. There should be a hot coffee, tea and fresh juice to be served.

Luncheon – this is the similar of brunch receptions and maybe a buffet style. This are the type of receptions that are generally follow a late morning or high noon ceremony and it was serve between noon and 2 pm. This may include also a variety of salads, such as potato, fruit, chicken, pasta or vegetables with dip. It must also have a sandwiches, cold cuts and chesses to be served. Once your guests are seated, there should be a white wine to be served with some soup and salad also to start.

Tea or Cocktail – this are generally held between 2 and 5 p.m and usually starting not later than 3:30. And these are generally served by coffee, tea or punch with some champagne or wine. This is the less expensive type of receptions, and perfect with a large guest list and a small budget.

Buffet – this is the type of reception where the guest will serve themselves. While the buffet table is arranged with a variety of food that can either be round or oblong with the food is placed around the edge. It can be served in rectangular with food behind one side, or food displayed along both sides.

Dinner – this was usually started between 6 to 9pm. And this was served with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres in the first hour followed by a sit-down or a buffet dinner.

Sit-down – this is the party that the guests are served in the table. This has a more formal feeling, and it preceded by a cocktail hour where the guest can have time to mingle other people. This type of reception provides more organization and it tends to quiet down the party.

Food Station – this will add some unique and décor to the area. And these are just smaller buffet tables that are set up around the room or in the different areas of the garden. And it is nicer if each of the food station has different them and type of food.
