Why I sometimes don't have time to blog!

I had a friend comment that I wasn’t gone yet, so where was my blog for the day, so this blog is in response to her question. This will give you an idea of what motherhood sometimes is like. I warn you now that it is long, boring and just the day in life of a mother.

With that being said, some of you know that I was painting my kitchen. I have finished but it all started with prep work on Friday. Oh the joyous time of scrubbing walls and taping off a Zillion cupboards and doorways. Along with doing school this was pretty much my Friday.

Saturday, if you red my hubbsters blog, you would know that he took Jake on a fathers son day. I went to a baby shower with Mic Mac until about 1 in the afternoon. Then zipped into the babysitters and pick up BUG BUG (sorry 1-1/2 year olds just don’t do showers). When I got home I changed into my DD bright red painting sweats…. (oh yea…. REAL SEXY…. Especially 8 months prego) and an oversized Larry the Cucumber shirt…..(Getting Sexier by the min aren’t I) and finished the taping, and plastic laying need in the kitchen. Have I yet mentioned that I really hate the prep to paint. I LOVE PAINTING…. Just hate the start up. Anyways I managed to get the first layer of paint on the walls, which is a yellow with a technique over the top. Then letting the paint dry I hung curtains in my living room. About the time I was finishing a friend called and invited me over for supper. This was awesome because I hadn’t had time to get a meal together for supper. By the time we got home it was time to hit the hay... But I put the second coat of my base color yellow on the wall. Yes people I am CRAZY! While painting I was on the phone trying to line up a babysitter for Sunday night because we had a church get together thing and we were still without the sitter. (By the way I never did find someone).

Sunday... I rolled out of bed and got ready for church and bless his heart my hubbster made me a Mocha…. Ahhhhh It was like the heady sensation you get after…. Well that might be just a little bit too much information… but you get the point. Zipped everyone into their Sunday bests and off to church we went. After church we went to a short meeting, (our church is going through some interesting stuff right now) and home to feed the hungry beasts. By the way at church I found someone to watch the kiddos for the evening party. I change back into my sexy DD Red painting sweats and the oversized Larry the Cucumber Shirt it’s up the ladder again to get the first part of the technique applied to the walls. Finishing with just enough time to clean up the brushes and rags, I change into acceptable clothing and head into get the babysitter. Remembering that I was suppose to bring a dish to pass, I stop at the local gas station, pick up a bag of chips, for I had just made a big batch of homemade salsa and figured that would have to work. I grabbed the babysitter and head home. The babysitter being new to our house, got the quick run down of where everything was located, and then hubbster and I were off. We had a great time fellowshipping with friends, playing crazy games, and sharing time around a campfire! Needless to say when I got home I didn’t paint for I needed to get the school work ready for the kiddo’s the next morning.

Monday….. Oh… wonderful Mondays. Can I just say that I just wanted to roll over and go back to sleep…but I didn’t. Got the kiddo’s rolling, doing their chores, (feeding the dog and kittens) fed them breakfast and we were ready for school. Schooling has been fun and I enjoy this time of the day. Finishing that we grab dinner and then I am once again in my… yes say it with me everyone… sexy DD red painting sweatpants and Larry the Cucumber t-shirt. I did the final color on the wall, and was happy with the way it turned out. It has an Italian feel to it! Now it was time to remove all the tape, plastics, and do any touch ups…. Feeling like I had a new kitchen I cleaned everything up, rearranged a few things and before you know it was 10:00 at night and I still need to prepare my lesson for the kiddo’s for tomorrow!

Tuesday…Ahhh I rise and shine extra early today for I am watching 2 of my friends kids overnight and they will be arriving at 8:00 am. I get the kids going on their schooling so that they can be done by the time their friends arrived. Between feeding the kiddo’s, getting the laundry all washed so that I am ready with all the clothes we will need for the weekend, deciding to bake everything under the sun, and building a fort the size of my living room out of blankets….(Which if you don’t get this read the post before this one.) It was time for supper. The kiddo’s were so tired that by the time the kitchen was cleaned up it was time to pack the crew into their beds. I thought FOR SURE, they would just fall asleep after playing on the trampoline with the water hose and just the long day they had had…. But NOOOO! Ben and I make multiple trips up the stairs, to tell them to get to sleep. Last trip was at 10:45 and 3 of them were still awake. Coming back down the stairs I am thinking at least they will sleep in, in the morning!

Wednesday (today)….. WRONG… WRONG…. WRONG! 6:45 Aaron, the youngest wakes EVERBODY up! GRRRRRRR! At this time I am tired and cranky and just want some sleep BUT duty calls. I get my tired arse out of the bed and start the breakfast feed. I know that with the lack of sleep these young kiddo’s have had, that a storm is brewing… I just don’t know when it will hit. And it did….. Lunchtime… Yep, not only is it hard enough to get everyone feed but Aaron decided that he wanted to sit in his brothers spot! I told him that he needed to go sit in his own spot with his Scooby doo cup. But to no avail. With limbs thrashing, and ear splitting screaming, I carry this almost 4 year old into another room and tell him that when he is done screaming he can come and eat at the table. I close the door. The screaming ensues…..the kicking of the wall and door begins. I go back into the room, make him look at me, while he’s screaming and told him that he is not to kick the walls or the door. 15 min later… it stops…..I go to the door, and ask if he is ready to join us at the table. “Yep” he says, and crawls up on his chair and finishes his meal. Can I just say that when their mother came and I was just back to 3 kids, I laid on the couch, reveling in the fact that I wasn’t going to move a muscle for at least ½ hour. The phone rings……

Anyways… this brings us to our current time and place. I still need to pack our bags but everything is clean and in their drawers so it shouldn’t take long and we are having left over pizza for supper tonight! I LOVE LEFTOVERS! I will be back posting on Tuesday with all the details and pics from the wedding.

"Who's coming?"

Just thought that I would invite all my blogging buddies to Minnesota for supper tonight.

On the menu, Homemade pizza, the from scratch recipe is at this moment baking in my oven, as the aroma of garlic and rosemary floats through the air. But if you happen to not be a pizza person, The 3 hot loafs of Banana Bread are sitting to cool for an afternoon snack, and if that wasn't enough, In the wait is a HUGE DOUBLE BATCH of CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES, that will be warm and ready to eat about 3. All are welcome..... please RSVP!

First comes love, then comes marriage........

That’s right everybody. My middle brother is FINALLY getting MARRIED!!!! I am sooooooo excited! Annie his bride is such a sweetie, and I can’t wait for this weekend. My bro is 26 and we thought he was never going to meet that special someone! You see, to get married you actually have to TALK to someone from the opposite sex. I will clarify and say my brother is a hoot and not shy at all around family, but when it came to the fairer sex, he was mute. But we continued to pray and Viola! He met her on E-harmony, since our small hometown had no good prospects. Being out of school and not wanting to pick up his future wife in the bars, he took a chance at e- harmony! Go E-harmony! Actually GO GOD! It’s a long story but truly God knew the timing and the special someone for my brother. It is so fun to be able to rejoice when attending a marriage in which the couples are dedicated to the Lord and their spouse!

The other interesting fact is that at every one of my sibling’s weddings, (this going to be the 3rd,) I have been prego! I should have known someone was getting married! So this weekend I get to waddle down the aisle in a fancy dress feeling like a blimp. I have stated for the record that when my youngest brother gets married, I WILL NOT BE PREGO! I AM DONE! Though I don't know if they all believe me. Mic Mac and Jakers are ring bearer and flower girl so they are excited as well. I will have to post some pics when we get back.

So with that being said, I will not be blogging Thursday through next Tuesday. We are leaving Wednesday evening and will be back late on Monday. I will just have to blog like wild today and tomorrow so that I don’t get the blogging shakes of withdrawal!

A 28th (wink) B-day

First thanks for the birthday wishes everyone! Once you hit 28 (wink, 29) and the big fat 30 is looming birthday’s lose their excitement.

As a kid “THE BIRTHDAY LIST was miles long….. There was lots of cake, friends and family coming to the house to celebrate your day, but best of all it was the one day I didn’t have to do my chores around the house. All the birthday girl had to do was start checking things off the birthday list and pick what 3 kind of cakes she wanted. (Yes people 3 cakes, and it is still that way today at my kiddo’s parties). I would anticipate the new bike, the new “NIKE” sweatshirt, and the tennis shoes I had been slobbering over FOREVER! Anyways, you get the pic.

Back to yesterday…….

A couple days before, Ben asked what I wanted, and I admit the list took a while to come up with. After mulling it over I told him……. If we were millionaires, a laptop computer, but knowing this was not possible, I wanted a night at home, in a pair of sweatpants with my hubby watching a movie. This way I am not freezing my now prego arse off in a restaurant or movie theatre. As far as presents were concerned, I suggested more of the “willow tree” collection, an instrumental spa cd, (I know cheesy, but at the end of a hectic day it’s just what I want), or a massage from him. Yep, I thought to myself, that is the perfect birthday. So all day yesterday, I was pressing curtains, doing 6 piles of laundry, ironing over 23 pieces of clothes (SERIOUSLY it took me from 1:30 in the afternoon until 5:00 to do it all) and cleaning so I could actually sit down and enjoy the evening without thinking of all the things I should be doing. I even left BUG BUG up from her nap so that she would be exhausted and crash out promptly at 7 p.m. Yes I am going to have everyone in bed BY 7:00 and ENJOY my movie.

Jumping ahead, it is now, 7 o’clock at night and the kids are just going in the bathtub, I still have the mounds of clothes I folded to put away in the drawers, and before I know it is 8:15 and I am so exhausted I just want everyone in bed. Hugs and kisses to everyone and up they go. Ahhhh…. All that hard work and now I can enjoy my day. Or so I thought.

Ben had called be earlier in the day from the movie store with a couple of titles that he thought I would like and I told him to get “The Wedding Date” . You know a romantic comedy that was going to be sappy, happy, and leaving me at the end of a very hectic day sighing in happiness. YEAH RIGHT! This was the most horrible, no good, poor acting, no romance just sex, (for 6000 dollars), and lots of nipples movie I had ever seen! Come on people… under silk WEAR A BRA!!!!!!! So needless to say my day didn’t end as I had foreseen it happening. The only thing that salvaged the day was my hubby bringing me Chinese for supper… (Which he thought of and I LOVE) and my massage from my hubbster. From now on I am just going to tell Ben to listen to my daughter. When he asked her what to get me it was along the lines of diamond rings and necklaces. Something beautiful.

So what am I to learn in all this? On your birthday don’t clean your whole stinkin’ house, and go for the diamond instead of a movie!

Meet the “Ben and Syd Crew!”

Hey everybody... just thought I would take today to share each of the crew with you! Hope you enjoy!

Bug, Bug…… Let’s just say she is not going to be the forgotten third in our family. She is at such a fun stage… learning to really communicate through words and body language! She is BUSY –BUSY – BUSY! Her latest… (Thanks to her father and my Son….. More his dad’s than mine) is that when she burps she puts on the face in the picture above and gleefully replies “I Burp!” Than she giggles…. Dad busts a gut… Jake is falling off his chair with laughter, so she Burps again. “I Burp!” And it all starts over again….. Yes y’all our daughters’ first sentence is “I Burp”. I have to say it is really funny and I am not kidding when I say that she can burp pretty much on demand. (Thanks Dad and Jake) J I mean what would you do with out this talent. Anyways… she’s a fun loving kiddo and we are having a blast….. Her other favorite past time is playing (strangling the kittens) or as she calls them “Meow, meows”.

Micker Macs… she is the most loving child. She crawls into bed every Saturday morning and whispers “I Love You” to Ben and me. It is always accompanied by a huge hug. She is definitely our snuggler! She likes school though sometimes it is hard to keep her focused. She’s also our artist. I have new paintings, wall hanging, and drawings daily. In fact if I don’t get 3 to 4 different projects she’s constructed for me in one day I am shocked. Hand her a glue bottle, markers, scissors, and white paper and she is content all day long. No joke!!!!!!

Jakers….What can I say… HE’s ALL BOY! From the fact that he is always getting injured to trying to teach him at school, to his wacky sense of humor! (Takes after his dad) As you can see in the pic, you can’t even get a picture of him without him moving. In fact I love this kid dearly… but when teaching school it is all I can do not to duck tape him to the chair. He is either humming, singing, WIGGLING, standing on the chair or telling his sister how to do her work. He is incredibly intelligent and I know that his learning style includes movement, but be praying for me as I find a way he can move that is not disruptive to Kenzie and is respectful to me, yet allows the movement he needs. He can sing while I read and understand everything I have read. He is six and already reading chapter books and comprehending them. But in our family if you need a laugh…. Go to Jake! He keeps us laughing!

Myself…. Let’s just say I am tired of being prego, and am wondering what the doc will chew me out for today at my appointment! One of the first appointments I get scolded for not gaining enough weight, next time, I have gained to many pounds for her taste and get the lecture on how I will be a huge lardo if I don’t watch what I eat… to the last appointment I had where I had lost a pound and she wants to make sure I am eating. Can I just say that my eating habits have been the same through the whole prego and I have only gained 19 lbs. total!!!!!!! Come one! So I wonder which way the wind will blow today!

Benny Boy… well Pray for him as his job is just a job and frustration is setting in. He has applied to another university here in Minnesota but hasn’t heard back which is extremely discouraging. He is so qualified for this position! Please be praying that we will hear soon whether it is for an interview or not. He needs a new job! Yet we are thankful for the one that he does have. Love you Hubby!!!!!

Anyways… just us… the crew. Enjoy the pics!

Feel like Pooh.........

I feel like Winnie the Pooh as he sits in the hundred acre woods and tries the think…….

Think, Think…… Think, Think….. Tapping his forehead with his pudgy paw, muttering “Oh Bother”

My muddled mind is staring at this home school sheet I need to turn into the school by October 1. On this we need to come up with a name for our school. A name for our school? Ack…. I hate those kinds of things, because I want it to be perfect because it is forever going to be that name. Of course I went to the kids and asked for their input….. (Yes this survey included Ben) and they were able to come up with….

The Cheeto Academy
The Green Bay Packer Backers Academy
Loony Bin Academy…..
Chicken Academy
And you have all seen the titles to Ben’s Blog and I am not sure I want the Academy of Hard Nipples, or something of those sorts, so I am left to come up with the name…..

Now most of you out there are thinking “How difficult can that be?”

Trust me…. With no sleep, due to my uncomfortable state of pregnancy, children that seem all the want to do is fight, and a house that desperately needs cleaning, all that is running through this mind is….. Think, Think…….. Think; Think……I’ve become a Pooh.

My brain is producing zilch, nada, nothing …. So I am reaching out to all my friends in Blogger world to help give direction for naming our school or a name for our school…..

So please help this little pooh with the muddled mind, so that I may go back to eating the nectar of the bees once again.

Officer, Officer! He stole my Blog. Blog Patrol HELP!

Sydney:
I was going to blog on Penile Fracture today when this man shoved me out of the way and bogged about it. While stumbling out of his way... I obtained this! Crying, I pleaded with him to leave me alone with my blog, only to have him laugh menacingly and continue typing!

Officer:
Well mam, what makes you think he stole your blog in the first place! This is a free blogging world.

Sydney: Sir, I am the only one at our house that watches the Discovery Health channel. My husband doesn’t like the gore of the “Life in the E.R., Emergency room Medicine, and etc. One other night, while watching Discovery Health, Penile Fracture came on, I was fasicinated! A man can break his Penis! Therefore I shared this wealth of information with some friends up here, much too there surprise! Then last night, it was being talked about again on the Discovery Health channel and my husband was just in the room listening to the t.v….. Not watching mind you…. When he heard it for himself and thought it was funny, and flew to the computer to blog!

Officer:
So he has shown little to no interest in this subject before last night?

Sydney:
That is correct sir! And I told him that he couldn’t blog about it for I am the Discovery Health Channel Junkie! If you want the truth I think he just wanted to cross the line again.

Officer:
Okay mam…. We’ll get to the bottom of this for you!
Sydney: (Throwing her arms around the officer) Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! I knew you wouldn’t let me down. Blog Patrol to the rescue!

Confession Corner: The above picture is not of myself. Jake had a run in with a 5 gallon bucket last night. I apologize for stupping so low as to post my sons hurts to get some sympathy. His owee has been smothered with kissed, iced, oniment and bandaids applied!

My Office, messy with love

These thoughts spin from a couple of other people blog’s. Jenniy’s and Rebecca’s blog. Jenniy’s the other day about not being able to wait to get home and leave the office. Being a stay at home mother I joked with her about I can’t wait to run away from home! There are times, I literally just want to cry, tell everybody to go away and don’t talk to me for a week and don’t touch anything that has been cleaned. No more questions, no more dirty underwear in the bathroom I just cleaned, no more empty pop cans in the bedroom, living room etc. No more toothpaste marks on the sink right after I have washed it, no more meals to make with someone say OH ISH, No clothes hanging over the back of the chair day in and day out. You get the picture I could go ON and ON and ON! In summary NOBODY coming in and messing up my office! (Which happens to be 9 rooms to keep organized and cleaned) I would be on my own schedule, no midnight out of beds for vomit or wet pants. A FULL NIGHT OF SLEEP! Now keep in mind this is what came to mind after reading Jenniy’s post. Then I went to Rebecca’s site. She is a 3 year old with incurable cancer. (Here's the link to her site http://www.rebekahspage.blogspot.com. The tears ran as I read their story and I began thinking how these parents and family only wish that they could have the things I listed as annoyances for the rest of their lives. I realized how incredibly selfish I can become. The list that seemed so horrible above has now become signs of life, a sign of people who love me and will be with me forever and I love them. Not burdens, but gifts. They may be messy and tiring, and sometimes very exasperating, but wonderful marvelous gifts, that also bring laughter, Joy and sunshine to my day! May I not look upon these things as burdens ever again….. Though I am sure I will have my moments…. But as a blessing given from above. So to all mothers out there, be encouraged, keep up the good work, and when you see the messy underwear hanging from the lamp, smile and know that you have been blessed.

BURN!

You haunt my every move. You’re always there, changing, but never gone. In the morning you greet me, at night you haunt my dreams. I cut you back only to have you regenerate faster than I can hack away at your ever increasing tentacles. Daily I struggle to beat you back, but you regrow healthier and stronger than before. Oh how you torment me, choking the life out of me. Lying there, mocking me, I despise you. Yet I know I can’t live without you. How I wish to be rid of you once and for all. Everyday I see you staring at me, challenging me, daring me to have victory over you. Beware, for one victorious day I will win our battle and on that day, I will laugh, dance and sing as you burn. “Burn, You stubborn “LIST OF TO DO’S.” BURN” Oh what a glorious day that will be!

The adventure begins......

You check your list, making sure you have everything. You have been anticipating this moment for months. A new adventure. You have prepared, studied, and gotten the supplies that you need. The moment has arrived. You review everything again and again, making sure you haven’t missed anything crucial to your survival. The butterflies of anticipation mixed with anxiety stir in your stomach. You lay everything out the night before, so you can get a goodnight sleep hoping and praying you have prepared enough.
(The next morning)
AHHH! Today is the day. You take a long leisurely stretch…. Praying to the pregnancy gods you don’t get a Charlie horse, and then ask God to calm your fears, and to give the wisdom needed for our new adventure. Yep today is the first day of home schooling!!!!
Being completely honest, I hope that I am not screwing my kids up for the rest of their lives. Ben and I have prayed about and sought council about this decision and yet in the back of mind it echo’s….. “Are you going to miss something?” “What if they become social inept?” “What if you loose your mind trying to do everything for everybody?”

Oh the doubts that can assail me but when I pray I feel calm and I know I have to rely on that this is what God wants for our family right now. I AM excited to start this journey.

A little background for those who haven’t heard this before. As parents we are NOT home schooling because we feel that the schools are evil or that our kids will be rotten to the core if we send them to public school. In fact I think the teachers are doing a wonderful job with what they are given and the classroom sizes that they deal with. With that said, Jacob, who is in first grade this year is already reading full chapter books in one night. He loves the box car children series. Reading is all they focus on in first grade fall through February. He is not a genius but many people have commented on how smart he is and we don’t want him to lose his love of learning by being bored. Mic Mac will be Kindergarten this year and she is already spelling, knows all her ABC’s and in doing addition and subtraction. Again we don’t want her bored out of her mind.

Anyways… enough babbling. Today is an exciting day in our house. Jacob is telling everyone that we are going to be home schooled the rest of his life, but we are really taking it year by year. When I told him this, he looked at me and said “WHY?” completely shocked. I told him we wanted to see how it was going to go and if it worked out okay. He turns and with a huge smile says… “It’s going to be GREAT!” This is what I hang onto when I feel inept. God give me the strength, patience and wisdom to handle this new adventure we are embarking upon!

We just finish vacation bible school last night! Every night was filled with laughter, dancing, learning, and crafting! What could be more fun! The kids seemed excited every night and we actually stayed to same number of kids or increased every night. Normally we start off with about 50 kids and end up with 25 to 30 by the end of the week. This year, we maintained between 60 and 70 on a given night! Praise God! Thank you Lord for this opportunity to share you! Some kids that rarely see the inside of a church were there and bringing friends. Now some of you may be thinking 60 kids? That’s not that many but our community is about 700 or 800 people… and I think that’s if you count everyone’s pets as well! Every night we did a skit randomly through out the night, and last nights was about the tomb being rolled away and that Jesus was alive. As the actors were coming around to all the different shops, they would whisper excitedly ….. “Did you hear the news? Jesus is Alive … he’s Alive!” Then we the shop keepers would discuss with the kids what they thought. One little boy scoffed and said…. “Nobody can be raised from the dead.” “It can’t happen!” So I asked him why not! His reply, “No solider can raise someone from the dead!” I looked at him and asked… “But could God?” He glanced my way…. Continued working on his harp and then answered, I don’t know!” I shared more about how God is all powerful and could do anything. Well later that night at the closing we had a gentlemen come in and play the role of Jesus. This young boy just stared at him! It really got him thinking even though it was a skit! Praise God! Anyways…. It was a great week, which was just enjoyable and yet tiring. Here are some pics of the set that we worked on for it. Believe it or not it is almost all cardboard and Styrofoam. What can I say give me some paint, willing hands, and Viola! Jerusalem!

I don't have a pic of the whole market place with the well in the middle that was in the other part of the church but this gives you a general idea!
I have some more pics but I was struggling to get these posted.... the little girl is Micker Mac at the basket weaving shop!

Tattoo or not to Tattoo???? That is the question!

I have always liked tattoo’s and when done tastefully I think the are pretty and sexy. Lately I have seriously been considering getting one. Problem I face is WHAT?????? I want something that is fun, in some way represents me, and yet when its there and I am old and saggy it doesn’t look awful. I have waffled on the whole tattoo issue for at least 8 years….. (since I have gotten married). You see….Ben has one on his shoulder that he designed himself and it is very tasteful. (Not naked ladies with large boobies). :-)
So here is the questions of the day……….

What do you think I should pick if I get a tattoo?
Should I get a tattoo? (Always interesting to hear other people opionions on them)
Would you ever get a tattoo or do you already have one.
Where should I get the tattoo?

Now just so you all know… I do have a few ideas in my head on what I would do and where….. but I wanted to see if anybody actually suggests something that I was thinking of…… Lets see how well you know, or don’t know me!

Have fun and be creative.!!!!!!

Sydney Takes Flight!!!

Flapping my wings with anticipation, I close my eyes and jump. Plunging to the ground I begin flapping my wings furiously. Slowly but surely I began to soar! With the air of freedom under my wings, I feel such exhilaration. With the wonderful send off from my husband what could be better! Kudos’ to you Hubby for putting up with all my questions and thoughts concerning my site. Oh and by the way for anyone who does not understand the bird analogy in this blog you will need to swing by the married in Minnesota blog where I previously posted with my husband.
It has been two late nights, deciding colors, themes, backgrounds and mood of my blogging page. I love coffee shops, chatting with friends, and the relaxing atmosphere it creates, so I decided to head that directions with this site. I hope that all who stop here feel refreshed from the daily grind. I anticipate sharing tears, laughter and our hopes and dreams together! Come in and relax for a few moments. If I could send homemade treats thru the internet I would but you will just have to use you imagination.
So on such a big day, I will share with you an important step. I am actually sending out a cover letter and samples of my children’s book to an agent. Who knows if it will be accepted or rejected but today is going to be a day of giant leaps! Wish me Luck!..... Wait…… I don’t believe in luck, pray that whatever may happen with my writing dreams, God gives me the peace in knowing I am following his will whatever it may be!.......

My coffee cup is empty so that must mean it is time to REALLY start my day! What a better way than with friends! Welcome!
